Traversing the Pan-American Highway
This week, I'm setting out on perhaps my most challenging adventure, yet. Since my last real adventure, backpacking through Eastern Europe,
I've become accustomed to a more comfortable type of travel, in luxurious cruise ships and nice hotels. So, before I get too comfortable, I want to challenge myself, just to make sure I still have what it takes to be an intrepid traveler.
Over the next 8 months, I'll be traveling in the Pacific North West, then up to the top of Alaska, all the way down the Pan-American Highway to the southern tip of South America, and my journey will finish in Buenos Aires. Apart from the first couple of weeks flying solo, my mode of transport will be an overland truck with 20 new family members. We'll travel through Alaska, the Yukon, Canadian Rockies, the Western USA, Mexico, Central America, and once the truck has been shipped to Colombia, down through Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Chile, and I'll leave the trip in Argentina to fly home.
Some of you will remember my solo backpacking escapade in 2013. While I'd like to be able to blog as I did then, this time I may not have frequent access to the internet or as much opportunity to write. If that's the case, I will post regular updates on my Facebook page (Juanitapics). So, be sure to follow along with me, there.
Wish me luck. First stop, Seattle.
